About Ruth

As I have been providing therapy since 2000, I have had the pleasure of supporting hundreds of people in finding freedom from the traumas and challenges of their past, and discovering the path that is right for them. With over 10 years of experience as a practitioner of EMDR therapy, I have come to see that while we cannot change or delete our past, we can reprocess and reshape the ways that past impacts us today. EMDR offers the opportunity to be released from the chains of the trauma and to live more presently and mindfully, allowing the space to make choices not from fear and reactivity but from awareness and an openness to what the future can be.

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I tailor the therapeutic dialog and treatment plan to meet the unique needs of each of my clients. Whether it be supporting clients through relationship challenges, trauma or past abuse, intimacy related issues, motivation, or building confidence and self-worth, it is my pleasure to walk beside those who have the courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life.

While EMDR has become a focus of mine, it is not the only therapeutic approach I take and does not fit everyone’s needs. Regardless of what you are coming to therapy for, if you are interested and willing to put in the effort towards the life you desire, I am honored to work with you to support and empower you on your journey towards change.

Areas of focus: trauma and past abuse, relationship challenges, intimacy related issues, motivation, confidence and self-worth

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy designed to help the brain reprocess distressing experiences. While you briefly focus on a difficult memory, you follow guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or alternating taps or tones. Over time, this can reduce the emotional intensity of the memory so it feels less overwhelming in the present.

EMDR is most often associated with trauma and PTSD, and many people also find it helpful for anxiety, grief, and other painful experiences. You don’t need to describe every detail of what happened for it to work, and you stay in control of the pace throughout.
